Saanen goats were imported from Switzerland by Erzurum Atatürk University in 1970 and crossbreeding was carried out with domestic goats after being transferred to Çanakkale 18 Mart University in 1980, and Turkish Saanen goat, which has complied with 95% of the original race in the blood tests close to the original Swiss breed, was registered as originating in Turkey. Turkish saanen goats are Swiss originated high milk and progeny yield animals. One of the most important features of this goat; it can adapt to different climatic and environmental conditions. Because of this feature, high-yield domestic goat types are obtained by crossbreeding with domestic goats in both European countries and many other countries.
